Episode Two of the Restoration Series

In this episode, the project really starts to take shape.

We dive into some of the most hands-on and visually satisfying parts of the restoration so far—building the instrument panel, painting the interior, sandblasting key components, and knocking out a small but critical weld repair. These are the moments where the airplane begins to feel less like a pile of parts and more like a machine coming back to life.

As with every step in this series, all work is completed under the supervision of a certified A&P IA, keeping safety, quality, and proper procedures at the forefront. We also talk through the decision-making behind the panel layout, finish choices, and why certain jobs are worth doing now rather than later.

This episode shows the reality of aircraft restoration: progress mixed with patience, problem-solving, and learning as you go. It’s not flashy, but it’s honest—and it’s how these airplanes stay flying.

Huge thanks again to everyone helping make this project possible, including Jack Albright, Bill Melendez, Tyler Abbott, and the rest of the crew who continue to lend their time, skills, and experience.
