Kings US state visit to go ahead as Trump tells UK to go get your own oil

The King and Queen will carry out a state visit to the US next month, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The visit will mark the 250th anniversary of ​America's independence from British rule.

But it comes amid heightened tension between the two allies, with Donald Trump once again criticising the UK on Truth Social on Tuesday, telling Britain to "go get your own oil".

It follows the UK's initial refusal to allow UK airbases to be used in the US-Israel war on Iran.
