In This Episode, Sayu Rinpoche explores Santiago Atitlán - a hub for the Tzʼutujil Mayan community along the shore of Lake Atitlán. We will ride the water taxi / lancha from Panajachel and check out the local market scene, and then learn about the dark past of United States government's involvement in the Guatemalan Civil War, and how an American priest living in Santiago became a victim of the US government's actions......

Places visited in this episode:

- Lago Atitlán (Lake Atitlan): Central America's deepest lake that was formed as a result of volcanic activities. The lake is in front of 3 volcanoes: Atitlán, Toliman, and San Pedro.

- Mercado de Artesanías Tinamit Mayan (Panajachel Artisan Market): A souvenir market for tourists in the city centre of Panajachel.

- Embarcadero de Panajachel (Panajachel Boat Terminal)

- Iglesia Parroquial Santiago Apóstol (Saint James The Apostle Church) - Historic Catholic church originally founded in the 16th century. The church has figurines wearing clothes weaved by local women. The church was where American Catholic Priest Father Stanley Rother served until his murder in 1981.

- Parque de la Paz (Peace Park): A local memorial park where the December 2nd Massacre in Santiago happened back in 1990. 13 residents, including children, were shot by Guatemalan soldiers.
